To rent and drive a vehicle in Korea, you must prepare the following
1) International Driving Permit (IDP)
A valid International Driving Permit is required and must be issued before departure from the renter's home country. An IDP alone is not sufficient; the original domestic driver's license must be presented together with the IDP. In Korea, IDPs issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention or the 1968 Vienna Convention are generally accepted. IDPs issued by non-signatory countries may not be legally valid.
2) Valid Original Home Country Driver's License
A valid original Home Country driver's license is required. The license must have been issued at least one year prior to the rental date. An IDP alone is not accepted without the original Home Country license.
3) Passport
The original passport is required for identity verification.
4) Credit Card
A temporary authorization will be held on the credit card for up to two weeks following vehicle return. The authorization is intended to cover any outstanding charges, including but not limited to traffic fines, accident-related costs in the absence of insurance coverage, and any damages exceeding the insurance coverage limit.
* Conditions including age requirements, insurance coverage, and vehicle eligibility depending on the type of driver's license may vary. Please confirm all details prior to reservation.
** IDPs issued by non-standard or private organizations (including documents labeled "International Driving License") are not recognized.
